ISRAEL INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGE 2016

An England team of seven players and directors, plus managers and guests, travelled to Israel to compete in a four-nation international challenge on the greens of Ramat Gan and Raanana Bowls Clubs near Tel Aviv in May.

England, with allocated ‘guest’ player Lisa Royle (B1), performed well throughout, winning a Bronze medal in the B3 section of the Open Pairs competition at Ramat Gan.  We then moved on to Raanana where a Test Series was played between hosts Israel, England, a Scottish Select team and current World Blind Bowls champions, South Africa.

There were superb performances by individuals and a great collective Team effort culminated in England finishing runners-up behind Israel - and beating South Africa into third place.

Test Series Medals:

Gold: Steve Cook (B1 Men’s Singles); Harish Kumrai & Maureen Ryan (B2 Mixed Pairs)

Silver: Harish Kumrai (B2 Men’s Singles); Maureen Ryan (B2 Ladies’ Singles); Kevin Page (B4 Men’s Singles)
